Who We Are

BOLD Scholars

BOLD Scholars are students who are female or identify as women. Selected through a comprehensive admissions process, these students possess exceptional leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, a passion for social equity, and the ability to facilitate challenging discourse. BOLD Scholars aim to leverage their own identities, strengths, and collective knowledge to positively impact social change and foster inclusive campus environments.

Rooted within an intergenerational network of women from all sectors, BOLD is committed to supporting young women from all backgrounds and especially those who have been significantly underrepresented in higher education in terms of socioeconomic class, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship and ability.

The BOLD Women's Leadership Network operates at five institutions of higher education: California State University, FullertonIthaca CollegeMiddlebury College, Smith College and Rutgers University—Newark, which serves as the anchor institution. Each partner institution is led by a woman president who has demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout her career. The relationship between schools is highly collaborative, and each institution is inspired by and committed to the BOLD initiative.
